I live in New York City!

Hey.... It's me. It's been almost an entire year since I've posted. I want to be better at this! Good grief. This is probably one of my least favorite personality traits. Generally, if it's not school or work related, I have very little follow through. I have a lifetime's worth of barely begun journals and abandoned workout regimes to prove this point. BUT it has to say something about me that I keep coming back to this blog. I have an underlying need to chronicle my life. So once again, I am here, vowing to be better. Last April, I had posted about getting into the Stella Adler Studio of Acting Evening Conservatory. Everything was still up in the air about when I would come and where I would live, and it was a huge, anxiety inducing mess. Well. We opened Jane Eyre. And my god. What a beautiful, beast of a show. It will always hold a very special place in my heart as my final show at WT and the last time I was able to perform with some of my very dear fr...

A Day in the Life: Wednesday

8:00: I'm up! I think a mixture of excitement over filming in Acting IV and anxiety from my Spanish quiz helped me wake after just a few alarms. 8:30: After perusing social media and pouring a cup of coffee to cool, I jump in the shower. 9:20: Leilani comes in to my room as I'm doing my makeup in bed. I should already be done, but I got distracted while trying to find a Leslie Knope makeup tutorial on youtube. Instead, I watched alot of Parks & Rec clips. She brings me a few flannels to try for my costume and headed to school. 10:30: I drive to school, afraid that horrible parking will make me late for class, since I'm filming first! 10:50: Have I mentioned how abysmal the parking is at WT? I finally head across campus to the historical log cabin where we chose to film. 11:00: The scene goes great! 12:20: After filming the last four scenes, class is released. I head back to the green room to study for my Spanish quiz. 1:30: Off to Spanish, Buenas suertes! ...

A Day in the Life: Tuesday

8:00: I blearily wakeup. I am usually the worst kind of morning person- up with the sun and automatically wanting to talk to anyone who will listen. But Jane Eyre rehearsals have been running anywhere between 10-11, and so I don't sleep until much later than normal. Thus, mornings have been a struggle lately. I put on a pot of coffee (cursing myself for not premaking it the night before) and make myself a bowl of oatmeal. 8:15: I start on my makeup, keeping an eye on my phone. I'm scheduled at 9, meaning I need to leave by 8:30, but my manager is even worse at mornings than I am so I know there's a good chance he'll delay until 9:30. 8:20: Huzzah! He texts asking to come in at 9:30. This means I get to enjoy my coffee in the warmth of my bed rather than spilling it all over myself in the car. 9:30: Work! My manager and I discuss today's game plan and I spend the next four hours styling clients and maintaining the store's visual standards. 2:00: I get o...

A Day in the Life: Monday

7:05 am: My first alarm goes off. 9:00: Seven alarms later, I finally wake up. I hang around in bed, checking social media. 9:30: I finally get up and get ready for the day. 11:00: My first class of the day, Acting IV: Acting for the Camera. We've been working all semester with becoming comfortable on film as well as working with copy and demos. This week we are are filming short scenes from existing TV shows and movies. I don't film until Wednesday so I mainly hang back and watch my classmates. Here are some behind the scene pictures I took: Don't they all look so cool? All of my classmates are super attractive, it's maddening. The first picture is Nikki and Tyler doing a scene from 'It's a Disaster', and the second is Ryan and Rachel doing a scene from 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World'. 12:15: Leilani and I jump in her car and drive to Amarillo to get Rosa's for lunch. Nothing in this world makes me happier than Mexican food. 1:30: ...

A Day in The Life: Sunday

Hi guys! When I was applying to college I couldn't help but wonder what life was going to be like as a theatre student. Well now I'm nearing the end of my 6th and final semester here at WT. I have absolutely loved my time here! So I wanted to give everyone a little insight into how my time is spent. Now keep in mind, not everyone's days will look like this. I am currently taking 16 hours, working 30+ hours as a full time sales lead at Loft, not to mention attending Jane Eyre rehearsals Monday through Friday. So I'm very, very busy. :) So here we go! Sunday! 10 am: I wake up very tired. Last night was my last public improv show with the Improv Agents. I auditioned for the team at the end of last school year and I am so glad I did. This year has been so much fun and a great learning experience as well. We try to have a show once or twice a month either in the Acting Studio on the WT campus or in the back room of our local coffee shop,  Palace Coffee . After the show, t...

Time Flies

Wow guys! I gut super busy and didn't post for a few months.. or twenty four. I'm so bad at this. BUT I desperately want to get better, So we're going to try this again. Let's see. What has happened since I last posted? In April 2014 we opened and closed Macbeth. It was such an amazing experience! Shortly after, WT held auditions for the Fall 2014 jump show, The 39 Steps , and I was cast in the ensemble as well as Pamela's understudy! I spent that summer working at Pizza Hut and the Amarillo Zoo, both of which I quit when was hired on as a Sales Associate at Loft! August brought The 39 Steps and we opened in September, just a few weeks into the school year! That fall I was cast as Stella in the WT Directing class's scene of A Streetcar Named Desire , which is one of my ultimate dreamroles and a dream come true! I don't have pictures, but hopefully will one day soon! A few weeks later I was cast as Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest . We perform...

Macbeth opens in 2 Days!!!

Guys! It's Tuesday! We open on Thursday! Oh dear God. We open on Thursday. I feel like just yesterday we began broadsword training, and now we're about to open the last show of our season. I am so excited!!!  But y'know, also a little terrified. Because this is one hell of a show ladies and gentleman.  But mainly excited! I found a really great tech theatre/stage manager comic site, but I'm currently in the WT Theatre Box Office for practicum, and to be honest I can't figure out how to work the Mac. But here's the link: http://q2qcomics.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/q2q-22.png Check out all of their comics, they're the greatest! Also, if you live in the Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico/Kansas/Colorado area... COME WATCH MACBETH!!!!!!!!!! Performances are April 10-13, 15-19. Get your tickets!!!! http://www.wtamu.edu/academics/bit-box-office.aspx It's gonna be a great show! :) Jordon

College is Hard

I haven't posted since September. I AM SO SORRY!! Life just got INCREDIBLY crazy. Here's a recap of everything that has happened since we last spoke. October: We put 'Shakespeare in Hollywood' on the stage to great success! It was such a wonderful experience. I gained a lot of experience, made a lot of great friends, and finished very proud of my debut on the WT stage. Later in the month I drove to Kansas to see my beautiful friend Alison marry the love of her life Lewis! November: After not being cast in 'Into the Woods,' I volunteered to work on the wardrobe crew. It was fun, but it was hard. Thank you Stephen Sondheim for giving Cinderella approximately 30 seconds to change out of a ballgown and heels back into her poor clothes. Not cool sir. December: I was cast as Steph in Neil Lebute's 'Reasons to be Happy', directed by my good friend and big, Kyla! I then completed my first round of juries and my first semester in college!  Then I went...
