Stella Adler Callback

Hey guys! So I was very blessed to make the final round of callbacks with the Stella Adler conservatory in New York City! For this final round I was asked to film myself presenting a monologue as well as a personal statement about myself. Man, I stressed about that last part until my friends were ready to to murder me. I just didn't know how to approach it! I became an actor so I could embody others! I didn't want to talk as me about me!

But eventually, after much consoling and a few come to Jesus talks with my dear friend Austin, I met with my very talented friend Michael Hoy and put some stuff on film. (If you do not know Michael's work, check it out! He runs Pilot Light Productions and last summer he filmed A short film named 'Tracking' starring some of favorite people! Find it on Facebook!) Anywho, Michael filmed my callback and it was great fun although I was stressing out over it hardcore. But we filmed it, Austin edited, I uploaded it to youtube, and submitted to the conservatory board. And now we wait! But if you would like to watch my video, it can be found on my Youtube channel, just search Jordon Shyanne Acker.

 Have a great day!

Who said theatre isn't a contact sport?

So yesterday was a fun day! My cousin Nicklas got married to a wonderful girl named Sarah. I hadn't been to a wedding since his sister Keitha got married in 2006, and I didn't remember much, so all of my nuptial related knowledge came from the wedding scene in The Sound of Music (which I was in this summer). The entire family really enjoyed themselves. Very romantic ♥ And furthermore, this was my first time to get to go out with all the single ladies for the bouquet toss, and lo and behold... Look who caught the bouquet!  I sent this picture to Adrian. He's skiing so he hasn't received it yet. ;) Anywho. The purpose of today's post is regarding the myth that theatre is a nice, safe past time. Wrong! Theatre is an art that imitates life, and that art sometimes turns a little painful. It's something that happens all the way from children's theatre to Broadway and West End. Afterall, Idina Menzel was absent from her closing weekend in 'Wicked...

HAMILTON

Guys. GUYS. Picture it. Last Thursday, I'm at the gym. I'm running on the treadmill. Suddenly a text pops up on my phone from my friend Ashlyn: "Whatcha doing tonight?" followed almost immediately by a screen shot. In fact, this screenshot. Cue my yelling nonsense words at Jess, who was on the treadmill next to me and desperately trying to stop my own machine, less I trip and end up in the ER, thus throwing away my shot. When I finally gathered my wits, I tested her back, super cool and casual, that YES OH MY GOD I WOULD LOVE TO GO THANK YOU!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍 It's so fitting that she happened to win the Hamilton lottery. When we had gone for drinks just a week earlier, we had spoken about how desperately we wanted to see Hamilton. She even mentioned this article  at Timeout about the odds of winning.  We had each sighed, resigned that if we ever got the chance, it was probably years off. LITTLE DID WE KNOW. Cut to six hours later. We got $5 frozen drin...

BAP 2013: Annie-Day 6, Thursday

Ladies and Gentleman. Today, Broadway Academy of Performing did three entire run throughs.  Off book. On Thursday. This is unheard of!!! In the 15+ years since BAP has existed no one can remember ever having three full run throughs  on Thursday. It's usually a high stress day, with dropped lines, dropped choreography, and botched music. No. Today was crazy amazing. Truly proof that this group of BAPpers is truly special. I cannot wait for the performance on Saturday!!!
