Big Changes!

Hello friends!

We're moving quickly into spring (even if NYC weather fails to acknowledge it) and man do I have some great news to share!

First, I posted last time about how due to cut hours I had taken on the second job at Blue Balloons. It's not something I had necessarily been super excited about; it meant having 0 days off and being even more exhausted than normal. But I was willing to hustle if that's what needed to happen. But then my manager approached me about moving into a management position at Loft. I had been a Sales Lead at my store in Texas and we had spoken several times during my time at the Flatiron store about moving back up, but there had never been a position open. But now, due to a series of moves within the company, one was! I gleefully told her I was still interested and she sat up an interview with our District Manager.

And I am now, officially, the new part-time Sales Lead at Loft in Flatiron! I am so excited for this new opportunity. Being a SL puts you in a unique position where you can really connect with your associates and help them perform to their best abilities.

You're probably thinking, hey Jordon, remember how you were already stretched really thin between school and two jobs and you didn't have any time off and were permanently exhausted and maybe even a little crabby? Well, this promotion means that regrettably I had to give up my position with Blue Balloons. I hated to do it, especially since I had just come on, but they were very understanding.

This promotion came at a wonderful time because of my second piece of news... We're moving! The lease on our little Crown Heights is up the last day of April, and while we have grown to love this place, we felt like it was time to branch out and get a little more space, and maybe get a little closer to work while we were at it. We (meaning Jessie and I, Leah was on an Israel bound plane) met with Haylee and Christopher of Nooklyn and they were absolutely wonderful. They showed us several places and we actually chose a place that very day. We put in a deposit that night, submitted a file a few days later, and signed a lease just over a week later. It's a lovely little place in Bushwick, close to the L and coffee shops and a bar... Man. I am SO freaking excited. So excited. We move this Saturday. It's going to be wonderful!

We are also now deep into the throws of rehearsals for Eastern Standard. A separate blog post coming son!

Who said theatre isn't a contact sport?

So yesterday was a fun day! My cousin Nicklas got married to a wonderful girl named Sarah. I hadn't been to a wedding since his sister Keitha got married in 2006, and I didn't remember much, so all of my nuptial related knowledge came from the wedding scene in The Sound of Music (which I was in this summer). The entire family really enjoyed themselves. Very romantic ♥ And furthermore, this was my first time to get to go out with all the single ladies for the bouquet toss, and lo and behold... Look who caught the bouquet!  I sent this picture to Adrian. He's skiing so he hasn't received it yet. ;) Anywho. The purpose of today's post is regarding the myth that theatre is a nice, safe past time. Wrong! Theatre is an art that imitates life, and that art sometimes turns a little painful. It's something that happens all the way from children's theatre to Broadway and West End. Afterall, Idina Menzel was absent from her closing weekend in 'Wicked

HAMILTON

Guys. GUYS. Picture it. Last Thursday, I'm at the gym. I'm running on the treadmill. Suddenly a text pops up on my phone from my friend Ashlyn: "Whatcha doing tonight?" followed almost immediately by a screen shot. In fact, this screenshot. Cue my yelling nonsense words at Jess, who was on the treadmill next to me and desperately trying to stop my own machine, less I trip and end up in the ER, thus throwing away my shot. When I finally gathered my wits, I tested her back, super cool and casual, that YES OH MY GOD I WOULD LOVE TO GO THANK YOU!!!!!!!! 😍😍😍 It's so fitting that she happened to win the Hamilton lottery. When we had gone for drinks just a week earlier, we had spoken about how desperately we wanted to see Hamilton. She even mentioned this article  at Timeout about the odds of winning.  We had each sighed, resigned that if we ever got the chance, it was probably years off. LITTLE DID WE KNOW. Cut to six hours later. We got $5 frozen drin

A Day in the Life: Monday

7:05 am: My first alarm goes off. 9:00: Seven alarms later, I finally wake up. I hang around in bed, checking social media. 9:30: I finally get up and get ready for the day. 11:00: My first class of the day, Acting IV: Acting for the Camera. We've been working all semester with becoming comfortable on film as well as working with copy and demos. This week we are are filming short scenes from existing TV shows and movies. I don't film until Wednesday so I mainly hang back and watch my classmates. Here are some behind the scene pictures I took: Don't they all look so cool? All of my classmates are super attractive, it's maddening. The first picture is Nikki and Tyler doing a scene from 'It's a Disaster', and the second is Ryan and Rachel doing a scene from 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World'. 12:15: Leilani and I jump in her car and drive to Amarillo to get Rosa's for lunch. Nothing in this world makes me happier than Mexican food. 1:30:
